Monohydrate Citric Acid is a tricarboxylic acid found in citrus fruits. It is a weak organic acid that is commonly used in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. The parent component of citric acid, citrate, is a component of the Krebs cycle that occurs to be natural during metabolism in all living organisms. It is found naturally in citrus fruits such as limes and lemons and is majorly used as a natural preservative.  It comes with one water molecule as part of its chemical formula and exists as a white powder.
